Statutory powers for APS Investigators

Animal Protection Services is campaigning for statutory powers for its own investigating officers. The team investigate dog fighting, badger baiting, puppy farming and other organised and deliberate offences against animals.

Achieving statutory powers would mean that that we can enter private land and outbuildings, but not homes, without warrant if there was a reasonable suspicion that animals were suffering.

If we do not have statutory powers, we must ask the police to get a warrant and this can take days or weeks, even when an animal is suffering and in pain. Achieving statutory powers will be less burdensome on the police and more effective for animal welfare.
